UTCQ Rakesh… SONG DOWN…. RISE UP… FOCUS ON THE BASICS… these words of Master Len still reverberates through my body.
Late MASTER LEN LEE NAM, was not only my Teacher, he was also my Friend. Philosopher and Guide. Master Len was the Assistant Chief Instructor of Taichi Huang Malaysia, based out of Kepong. He was the direct disciple of Master Huang Sheng Shyan, the pioneer of Huang Taichi. Master Len lived in Kepong near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with his wife Mrs. Foong Hoh, also a senior instructor of Huang Taichi and his son. Master Len and his assistant Alvina used to conduct regular Huang Taichi sessions daily for many years in his school in Kepong.
My insatiable search to learn more about the Healing and Martial aspects of Taichi, took me to Master Len’s school in Kepong in July 2009, there I met Master Len, for the first time and we connected instantly on a Physical, Mental and Spiritual level. We became Teacher and Student for Eternity. I spent 14 days there training with Master Len and His assistant Alvina, up to 14 hours every day. The grueling sessions helped me to build a strong Foundation in Huang Taichi.
During my training, I realised that Master Len had a unique style of Teaching. He not only kept my spirit going during the long challenging hours of training, but also, attended to every step and movement, correcting me gently, yet firmly. He would also give detailed explanation for each and every movement.
I visited Master Len 4 times during the period 2009 to 2017 for my further training.
In 2017, during my training in Kepong, I invited Master Len to India to impart his knowledge to my students, to which he willingly agreed. In January 2018, we hosted a 3 days Huang Taichi Retreat in Chembur, Mumbai. 18 participants had joined that workshop. There we learned the Sung Sung Wu Fa, Opening and Closing exercises, the Basics of Huang Taichi Forms, and Lush Hands. Master Len was assisted by his wife. On the last day of the workshop, we launched Taichi Huang India in collaboration with my Institute, Universal Taichi Qigong School. A small get-together was organised with Snacks and refreshments. Mr. Ramesh Damani was the Chief guest who inaugurated the launching of Taichi Huang India, along with Master Len as the Chief Instructor and myself as the President.
In January 2019. Master Len was back in India to conduct a 3-day workshop with his wife and Alvina assisting him. This time along with some previous students some new participants had the luck to go through the grind. A bit of some advanced techniques were introduced along with Push hands and Forms. Starting at 7 am and going till 5 pm, indeed it was a task for all of us. But Master Len ensured that within these 3 days, the foundation of Huang Taichi has to be strong in everyone.
