The Water Season

WINTER, WATER , KIDNEY, SEXUAL ORGANS

Corresponding organs: kidneys, bladder, sexual organs.

The five elements studied in Taoist philosophy are constant interactions with one another. Crazy about each other, they evolve in synergy and mutual support to connect us to our true resources and enable us to unlock our creative potential.

Water always flows downwards and deeper, as tree sap descends and concentrates in the roots in winter. Fluidity is always present, but it’s underlying. In winter, we are invited to hibernation, to internalize, to return to self.
Water is the feminine element par excellence. It is directly linked to the kidneys, bladder and sexual organs.
Physiologically, the kidneys filter and regulate body fluids. With the adrenal glands (located above the kidneys), they are like the body’s engine. They produce the energy and substance of all our vital functions.
Energetically, they store the reserves of our primary energies, those at the basis of fertility, gestation, birth, and creative sexual energy.
Psychologically, they carry the memories of the unconscious and family lines.
The feelings connected to our kidneys are deep emotions like fear, trauma, but also the quiet strength of calm and fluidity that give us ease and adaptability. Kidneys send us back to the softness and power of waves. This mixture of calmness and power gives us perseverance and motivation to overcome hardships. If our kidneys are weak, we can lose footing and get demotivated quickly. We stress, we stiff, we dry. From a physical point of view, substance and vital functions are weakening. If our kidneys are balanced and fluidified, we give up and enjoy life.
HOW TO BALANCE YOUR KIDNEYS?
Get to the basics, cultivate gentleness in your life, prioritize sleeping hours before midnight, avoid distraction, overactivity and stress.

  • Practice gentle sports such as walking, relaxing and resting.
  • Eat and drink warm, avoid stimulants (coffee, alcohol, sugar) that overload the kidneys, sleep with a bubble.
  • Meditate, practice centering to gather your energy (ideally, in winter, we hibernate and store our energies).
  • To heal your kidneys, breathe and smile in your kidneys with the “tchuu” sound (the work with sounds is presented in the following part).
  • make love very gently with full of gentleness and slow, meditatively, without penetration, to gather desire in your kidneys and nourish them.
The deeper energy the kidneys are filled with, the more they will nourish and support the liver ushering into spring.
THE DAY CYCLE AND THE FIVE ELEMENTS
If the five elements express themselves throughout the year, they also express themselves during the day and night.
  • The morning is like spring, connected to the wood element. The body is fasting, the liver and the gallbladder are light. Mind and body are ready for creativity.
  • Noon, it’s summer, the sun is at its zenith. The fire element is activated It’s a time of heart, action, connection, and sharing a meal.
  • In the afternoon, the energy returns to the center and settles. It’s the off season and the time of the sparrow. Whether it’s napping or productive action, it’s time to make things count.
  • The evening is metal and lungs time. Energy going down, focus on what matters. Time to take care of your body: massages, breathing, walks.
